Ted's is an Eden in the already microcosmic domain of DSM fast food.
Every other fast food place, be it The King™ or B-Bops or wherever, gives you like, yknow, a reasonable burger and some fries and there ya go. A facsimile of a meal.
Not my good bruh Ted. He understands. He delivers. He satisfies.
Ted isn't a mere fast food restaurateur. He's a provider. One moment, you're filled with a feral hunger. The next, Ted's convivial staff has blessed you with a gyro, fries, onion rings, coleslaw that doesn't taste like Styrofoam, and a delicious beverage cooled to a Thulean degree by the modern miracle of crushed ice. And that's like, 8 bucks or something.
Ted's Coney Island incites irresistible bliss. A couple could be in the preliminary stages of filing for divorce next to you, and you would be totally impervious to those vibes,,,
because Ted knows how to guide a gyro into its most sublime form. -

Fries are fricking spot on, onion rings are delicious so is the slaw and loin. $10 gets you all this no drink but I have water at home. Great value and tastes amazing.

This place has been here forever and I think it's for those who is bored of the regular fast food burger joints they have more options. The play itself is interesting and looks like an 80s dentist office. It's definitely dated but I guess they're wanting to focus more on the food.
Nothing so special, they have chili dogs, gyros, fries, burgers, etc. I'd say stick with the Coney if you're there for the first time but also give other things a try since they're all pretty good. It's not the best of anything by all means but it's very standard and really for the price I think we're good for that.
The last time I had the tenderloin and you know how it is in Iowa, huge patty with small bun. Who doesn't like that? If you're hungover and need that extra grease in the morning, give Ted's Coney Island a go. -

If you're ever in the area stop here and enjoy the Gyro Basket! This is handsdown one of the best gyros in the Des Moines area. The basket comes with a huge gyro that comes with tomatoes, onions, a blend of beef and lamb, topped with the tzatziki sauce (you can customize it as needed), fries, onion rings and cole slaw. I've never been a huge fan of cole slaw, but I absolutely love their slaw here. It's creamy and chunky and overall delicious. Price for the basket and a drink is about $10.
Also, I LOVE the fact that they have crushed ice for their beverages! All beverages come with a free frills so make sure to grab another drink for the road.
When your food is ready they bring it out to your table.
For the amazing food and great price I'll be back over and over! -

Owned by Ted Danson, Ted Bundy, Ted Kennedy, and Ted Theodore Logan, this is the place to get hot dogs and Gyros when in DSM. I love it, and if you understand, love, and appreciate good Gyros and Hot Dogs, so will you.

Continuing the bizarre tradition of naming hot dogs "Coneys" (which is especially exaggerated in Detroit WHAT), this is by far my fave of the many hot dog and Gyro places around DSM (although if you want Chili, try George's - the Chili King).
Even though the name is a cross between the most famous Hot Dog Shop of Buffalo and the little area of New York City which apparently invented this type of hot dog that is now especially popular in Detroit and other places, this lovely little spot really holds its own with Chicago style food.
Service is nice, from some of the employees anyway, and the prices are great - but the products are the real standout strong point here. Five star Chicago style hot dogs, done really well, fresh, tasty, snappy, and they have no issues in terms of authenticity or taste or freshness like so many Chicago dog places do.
And then there's the Gyro. Take hearty delicious Chicago-style gyro meat that is probably the best I've had in the Des Moines area, combine with fresh Pita, crisp veggies, and decent white sauce, and you've got one of the best in all of Iowa.
So this was a real surprise and I'm a big fan. Definitely five stars by any stretch of the imagination, by any standard really.
